LUNAR NEW YEAR

As a traditional custom,North Koreans use to greet their elders in the morning and play several folk games. Several dishes made of meat, vegetables and herbs are taken . Besides, the traditional New Year dishes such as rice cake soup, dumpling soup, pop-rice cake, glutinous rice crackers, fruit punch and sweet juice made from fermented rice are popular.
In China for lunar new year is called Spring Festival.
In China during Lunar new year people play fireworks, visiting family and relatives, make dumplings, people like to play MaJing with friends and family members. All the people like to arrive home meet with family no matter how hard they have to make the journey to home. they just want to get home before the Festival to get together with family and eat dumplings together. I guess you have heard Chinese transport people during Spring Festival. It will be huge number.

May 5th by lunar calendar.A spring holiday after sowing and transplanting. The weather is so fine that people go out to play colorful folk games.Especially Moran Hill situated on the bank of the River Taedong in Pyongyang is crowded with holiday makers.The fragrant rice cake mixed with wormwood pasted and lettuce wrapped rice and special dishes prepared for this day.
In China this festival is called DuanWu Festival it is also on 5th of May lunar calendar. It is for getting away some pestilence but during Chu Dynasty(278) QuYuan died. So for Chinese people spend this festival is to want to remember him.
Especially in south of China there will have rowing dragon boat match is called <Sai Long Zhou > in Chinese.
People will eat steamed rice which is rapped with special smell leave it is called Zhongzi in Chinese . Smell really nice. Some people like to put date and meet inside of Zhongzi.

(AUGUST 15TH CHINESE HAS MOON FESTIAL FOR FAMILY GET TOGETHER)
August 15th by lunar calendar. An autumn holiday after harvesting.Koreans visit their forefathers' graves,keep the graves tidy and hold memorial services. They play tug-of -war. Varieties of rice food made of crops are popular.
In China for Qingming Festival which is 5th of April all the family will clean the family tombs and burned special paper for the dead people to remember them.
As long as more more tours to North Korea. For sure it bring some new air to this country as well.
A lot of North Korean guide love the cosmetics or the bags or the clothes that Chinese guide using or wearing . Sometimes they will ask Chinese guide to bring some nice clothes or bags ....to them for every tour.From this culture exchange they build very good relationship with each other.
