Large circular gilt light alloy award with eyelet for ribbon suspension; the face with a circular central stippled gilt medallion with the three-quarter-length figure of a mine worker facing left, a pneumatic drill over his shoulder, slag heaps and a smoking chimney in the distance, imposed on a five-pointed red enamel star, laurel leaves between the arms to the left, flowers to the right, the figure ‘1’ at the base, the upper edge with cogs; the reverse with the name and class of the Order in Korean characters; diameter 47.1mm (1.85 inches)
